Richard T McNeill

Richard Thomas McNeill, age 91, died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by wife of 72 years, Louise Garner McNeill and family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 1 PM, at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church, with the Reverend Stephen Johnson and Reverend Darrell Garner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 noon.  Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

Richard was preceded in death by parents: Tom and Beulah Wallace McNeill; several siblings. He is survived by siblings Nettie Reynolds; Maxine Ritter; Lorene Hussey (Alan); Paul McNeill (Eva Mae); sister in law: Wilma McNeill.

A native of Moore County, he was the father of Garry Richard McNeill (Donna Ann), daughter Jewelene McNeill Phillips (Donald Ray) and the late Althea Doreen McNeill.

Richard, known as Papa to most, was cherished by all!  He loved to work and provide for his family.  He retired from Milliken Co. of Robbins after 47 years of service.  After which, he worked for Moore County Solid Waste Division for 12 years.  He loved mowing the grass and riding the tractor.  Above all that he loved his family more!

In addition to his wife and children ,he is survived by his grand-daughter Denise Vess(Theodore); great-grandchildren Heath McNeill (Vallerie); Turner McNeill (Casey); great-great grandson: Stephen McNeill; grandson: Bryan Phillips (Michelle) and son Layne; grandson: Vinson McNeill; grand-daughter: Faith Lanning (Michael); great grandsons: Matt & Josh Lanning;  grand-daughter: Candace Garner (Mark); great-grandchildren: Dylan Moore, Shayla & Blake Garner; and granddaughter: Nakia Hill (Chad).
