Douglas (Doug) Muse Brown 75, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Middle Cross Baptist Church, with Pastor David Reynolds and Pastor Keith Bobbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Hill Cemetery, Carthage, NC.

Doug was a native of Moore County and loved all of it, especially his hometown, Carthage. He enjoyed horses and was fixture at the Carthage Buggy Festival and on many wagon trains over the years.  Doug was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his family first. He was a friend to many people and loved his church family very much. Doug was the son of the late Samuel and Jessie Muse Brown and was preceded in death by son: Stephen Douglas Brown; sisters: Audrey Benner, Joyce Mabe, Beulah McNeill; brothers: Gerald Brown, Melvin Brown.

Doug is survived by wife, of 51 years, Bonnie; daughters: Lynn Brown Kamer and husband Joe, Donna Brown Shortt and husband Darrell;  grandchildren: Douglas and Nicole (Shorty) Shortt, Luke and Rylee Kamer; brother: S L Brown, Jr.; sister: Johnsie Datillo and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Middle Cross Baptist Church, 440 Lucas Rd., West End, NC 27376.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home is assisting the Brown family.
