Joseph William Garner, 81, of Robbins, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his home.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2 pm on Saturday, June 9, at the First Wesleyan Church in Robbins. The funeral service will be held at the church at 2 pm, with pastors Hubert McLeod and Cameron Dockery officiating the service. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Pine Rest Cemetery.
A native of Moore County, Joseph was born to the late Jonah E. Garner and Laura Brown Garner on August 27, 1936. He was a 1954 graduate of Elise High School. He served in the United States Army from 1960 – 1962, stationed in Korea. Joe worked for Sears and Roebuck in Greensboro, NC for over 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, playing cards, going to yard sales, pitching horseshoes, reading, doing crossword puzzles, fishing, and spending time in God’s Word. He loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as enjoying time spent with his church family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Joseph Bryan Garner, sisters Geneva Lemonds, Faye Stephenson, Mary Dunlap, Ann Early, and Louise Cole. He is survived by his brother, James Paul Garner.
He is also survived by his wife, Loretta McLeod Garner, daughter Deborah Marley, daughter Heather Albers (Cory), and son Jeff Garner (Jennifer), all of Robbins. He is survived by grandchildren Samantha Garner, JB Garner, Trevor Garner, Shannon Marley, CJ Albers, Natalie Garner, Rachel Garner, and Hudson Albers, along with one great granddaughter, Leah Dunn.
